Expense tracking, minus the typing

Snap a receipt.
It tallies itself.

Point your camera at any receipt — crumpled, faded, handwritten. Tally reads the merchant, total, tax and every line item, files it under the right category, and adds it to your month in about five seconds.

What it reads

The whole receipt, not just the total.

How it works

From shoebox to spending, in three taps.

  1. Point & shoot

Snap it, or pick a photo you already took. Bad lighting and coffee stains are fine.

  2. Glance & confirm

One screen shows what Tally read. Tap anything to fix it — usually there's nothing to fix.

  3. It's filed

Dated, categorized and counted in your month before your phone is back in your pocket.

Your month, explained

Spending that tells you something.

Monthly totals, category breakdowns, budgets and recurring charges — with plain-English notes when something starts to creep up.

Insight

Restaurants are up 18% for the third month running — mostly weekday lunches.

Split it

Dinner for three. One receipt. No maths.

Tap who had what. Shared plates divide themselves, and tax and tip follow what each person ordered. Everyone gets a link with exactly what they owe, no app needed, and only your share counts toward your spending.

  • Evenly, by item, by shares (2 parts to 3) or exact amounts
  • A running tab with each person, or a group for trips and flatmates
  • Record it when someone pays you back; Tally never moves money

Questions

The short answers.

Is Tally free?

Yes. On iPhone you can scan your first 15 receipts without an account. A free account removes that limit and adds the web app and budgets. No card needed, no ads.

Do I need to connect my bank?

No. Tally works from photos of your receipts, so there's no bank login or card number to hand over.

How does Tally read a receipt?

Your phone reads the text first, so the total and date appear in about a second. An AI model then fills in the store, category and every line item. You can correct anything before saving.

Where does Tally work?

On iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and on the web at tally.dataeaver.ca. Sign in on both and your receipts stay in sync.

What happens to my receipts?

They're private to your account. They aren't sold or used to train AI models, and you can delete your account and every receipt from the app at any time.

Can I split a receipt with friends?

Yes. Split any receipt evenly, by item, by shares or by exact amounts; tax and tip are shared in proportion to what each person had. Each person gets a link showing what they owe, and only your share counts toward your spending. Tally keeps a running balance with each person, or in a group for trips and flatmates.

Do the people I split with need Tally?

No. They can open their link in any browser without an account. If they want to see everything you share and the balance from their side, they can accept your invite and sign in for free.

Can it find my subscriptions?

Yes. Tally spots stores that charge you a similar amount month after month and lists them as likely subscriptions, with an estimated monthly total.
